A new report warns that al-Qaeda has not abandoned its goal of attacking the United States with a chemical, biological or even nuclear weapon.If that happens, the Right will complete their push to gut the Bill of Rights once and for all. They came pretty close after 9-11, but they didn't make it.
The report, by a former senior CIA official who led the agency's hunt for weapons of mass destruction, portrays al-Qaeda's leaders as determined and patient, willing to wait for years to acquire the kind of weapons that could inflict widespread casualties.

It probably hasn't escaped the notice of the wingnuts that in the game of terror ball, they are on the same fucking side as the terrorists. They merely have to overcome a little bit of distaste and they'll be supplying the weapons themselves.
All they'd need is some Bush-appointed general with rather too much 'patriotism' to get the ball rolling.
The problem is, once the gov grabs power, they never let it go. Thus, the Dem-controlled current Admin has done nothing to roll back Patriot, Patriot II, or any of the other encroachments on the BoR and The Constitution. I'd argue that they are forwarding/expanding upon them.
We're already halfway to Banana Republic. One more attack would probably seal the coffin.
