I'da Pushed the Goddam Button; Antares Launch Edition

The Orbital Sciences Corp. Antares rocket scheduled to launch at 6:45p from NASA’s Wallops Island Flight Facility has been scrubbed due to a boat in the range safety area.
Some asswipe just floated his damn boat into the firing area and with that, who knows how much that'll cost to reset everything.

I'd have said: "Hey, we put out a Notice to Mariners, this clown has assumed the risk of rocket parts landing on his fucking boat, we're go for launch."

But that's just me.

Update: This is why they wouldn't have listened to me.

They do it constantly off Camp Perry during the National Matches, even though it's bouyed and notices are posted at the marinas, published in the papers and broadcast on the radio. But there's never any consequences for these floating violators. Now if they were pilots busting a restricted airspace...

Murph, as you know, there's no Federal Boating Administration. All it takes is cash to buy and drive a powerboat.

Sort of like the guy who was convinced that his boat was a male, because everywhere he went with it, people yelled: "Look at the schmuck on that boat!"

Don't people get sued over everything in the U.S.? The boat owner could probably get sued for the costs of the delay.

BTW, why is this even an issue? Doesn't the Coast Guard enforce such no-go zones?

Or was the no-go zone just a friendly plea and not binding?

S.O., in this great country, you can sue anybody for anything. Getting a judgment, on the other hand...

If the boat was in U.S. waters, the boaters might have some issues with the law. In international waters, maybe not. I'm guessing that these clowns were probably within territorial waters.

Launch vehicle blew up tonite 19 sec after ignition.
Wonder what effect the "scrub" had on the failure.
Agree, I'd have pulled the trigger.

EB--

When there's a test with an impact point in international waters, they just issue a message saying in effect "We can't tell you to keep away from the following coordinates, but we think it would be smart..."

Maybe they came to film the bang?
